A380 Ware Barton & Telegraph Hill (Southbound)

Project: A380 Ware Barton & Telegraph Hill (Southbound)
Main contractor: Mildren Construction
Work involved: Concrete Repairs and Cathodic Protection
Date: February - March 2018

The Brief

During some planned maintenance and deck resurfacing works by Mildren Construction, concrete defects were noted to the beams on the underside of the bridge deck and to the expansion joints on the bridge deck. SWCR were approached to carry out the remedial works.

The Solution

Traditional concrete repairs were carried out to the underside beams using the Flexcrete Concrete repair system with Galvashield XP Cathodic Protection anodes included in the larger defects to reduce the chances of any incipient reaction to the reinforcement.
Repairs to the deck entailed reforming of the expansion joint and repairs using both repair concretes and epoxy repairs for edge details.
Products used: Flexcrete 841 Steel Treatment, Flexcrete 842 Bonding Aid, Flexcrete Monomix, Flexcrete Fastfill, RBS Rapid Epoxy Repair Mortar, Weber 5 Star Repair Concrete. & Galvasheild XP Anodes.
