Laira Bridge

INTRODUCTION
The works included within this contract comprised of Civil Engineering works to Cattedown Bridge, Embankment Road Bridge, Western Approach Subway, Exeter Street Subway, Blandford Road Subway and Laira Bridge, comprising the Plymouth Highway Structures Strengthening Contract 99/00.
South West Concrete Repairs Ltd were sub-contracted to carry out the concrete repairs to the underside of the bridge utilising a floating pontoon for access.

TESTING
Testing was required to determine causes and extent of defects.

Visual Surveys, Hammer Tests, Chloride Ion Content Tests, Cube Tests, Covermeter Surveys, Carbonation Depth Tests and Core Sample Analysis were all carried out.
